Well,  things do change!

Since my last posting, quite a lot has changed and are still changing.

Instead of trying to find that stone cottage to renovate and live in, I found a gorgeous – yes, gorgeous! – apartment. It’s actually more like a bungalow as it has a beautifully established garden, even though it is in an apartment building. And yes, it has a sea view too! Plus a storeroom!!

The front of the building
The lovely garden – so well looked after!

Automatic sprinkler system and… even mood lighting! PLUS a barbeque area that will make your mouth water!

The BBQ with built-in shower for those really hot days! (Apologies for the enormous SOLD signs!)

If everything goes according to plan, I should be able to move in during the first week of January 2023. The ‘waiting game’ is most frustrating but nothing can be done as the wheels of legality turn. Lawyers and Land Registry and… who knows what else! Patience has never been a strong point for me; tolerance, yes – patience, no!

Another change is that Jo (my sewing teacher daughter) had decided she will be finding her own place to convert into a sewing hub instead of sharing space with her old mom.  She has also decided that the house she has been trying to build which is basically still a skeleton of steel, will be sold and she will be free of that enormous worry and money drain. On Monday she is moving in with her future husband – it’s only 13 days till the wedding!

And because of the purchase – which was slightly more than the budget – I’ve decided not to go to South Africa for Christmas but rather wait until I’m properly settled in.  However, my planned holiday in Mauritius straight after the wedding is going ahead full steam – I need the break!

Over the last several weeks I have been decluttering and donating unwanted things like crazy. A really big donation will take place on Tuesday when I will take 24 paintings to the Archangel Michael Hospice where they will be hung on walls and/or sold to supplement their own coffers. I feel truly happy about that as it will give some people joy to either look at or to own.

The main reason for doing this is that I have evolved art-wise over the years and I’m really looking forward to starting anew on a whole different level. There is also a lot that I want to try my hand at and now that Cyprus Open Studios is (almost) something of the past, I can devote my time to my own interests instead of trying to help others fulfil their dreams. I feel that it’s time to look after Number One… At the ripe old age of 78, I think I’m entitled!

Until next time, stay safe wherever you are.
